Linda L. Smith, with 38 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and her deep spiritual faith, founded the first and only African-American owned, fully accredited vocational career college in California. The school teaches Vocational Nursing and other allied health care programs. In September 1992, Four-D College enrolled two students in its first class and currently more than 15,000 students have enrolled seeking education and careers in health care fields. She successfully operates two Four-D College campuses. The institution has been recognized as an Outstanding Business by numerous agencies.

In 2014 Linda L. Smith was appointed by Governor Brown’s Office to the California State Assistance Fund for Enterprise, Business and Industrial Development Corporation Board of Directors. In August 2010 she was invited to become a member of Congressmen Joe Baca’s Women’s Advisory Committee for the purpose of working with Congressman Baca and his staff to provide recommendations and to advise on matters that will improve the quality of life for women. In 2013 Mrs. Smith was appointed Vice President of the Board of Trustees for the Inland Empire Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House. In 2015 she was elected Vice President of The National Association of Women Business Owners/Inland Empire Chapter and elected to the Board of Commissioners for the Citizens Commission on Human Rights.

Linda L. Smith authored Business By Faith, Integrating the 4D’s of Success,  a trilogy of books that highlights her incredible journey of faith from disheartened child to influential college president. My unique journey also serves as the basis for many of her motivational talks.  In October 2013 a documentary, A Profile in Courage: Linda L. Smith, was released and received the Accolade Award. She has been featured in Essence Magazine, and is a contributor to several books, Creating Value through People: Discussions with Talent Leaders, Conversations of Courage and the Zoelife Devotionals 2012, ’14, ’15., and Rev Up For Success.
